DEAD WALK LOVE

Song of the Goat Theater

2014-2017

Character: Main/various

Devised and premiered a physical theatre duet based on Yukio Mishima’s text “Patriotism”. Incorporates elements of Japanese mythology, Noh Theater, Kabuki, Aikido and Butoh.

It is a matter of a man and a woman's relationship during the march towards a death they have chosen. It is their political ideals and moral code that chooses death instead of dishonor. Love and death commune in one bed of divine passion and come together in eternity. What is a marital relationship in the face of ultimate love for The Cause? In this theatrical event we weave the world of the living and the world of the dead together as the unfortunate couple heads towards the point of no return and then from the perspective of the grave. All within the rooms of one home during the Japanese All Souls Day - Obon.

Director: Jadwiga Rodowicz-Czechowska
Music: Maciej Rychły
Scenography, Costumes: Jadwiga Rodowicz-Czechowska
Cast: Julianna Bloodgood, Rafal Habel-Bloodgood

*****

“Julianna Bloodgood creates a thrilling creation in this Japanese Forefathers' Eve. She submits her own body to an inhuman discipline... The samurai spirit emanates from it.”

-Miroslaw Kocur, theatre historian, writer and professor-
